casa bosque_

Located next to Asheville, along the Blue Mountain ridge, casa bosque sits on the edge of the mountain where the terrain is steep and heavily forested. Facing the valley, the linear house opens up to the landscape.

The clients were not fond of the traditional architecture of the area but instead wanted to study how to design a house that was simple and modern, while keeping quiet so that the landscape speaks the loudest.

casa bosque is a place to admire the land, view, and woods.

From the street, the residence presents as a single-story home, then carves into the mountainside to reveal a second level, opening through expansive glazing toward the mountain views.

Often it is believed that design should duplicate or fit in, but this house shows that a building can respond to context, while still reinterpreting it in new ways.
